Feedlot Covers For Effective Feedlot Shade

Farm Sheds

Fully hot-dip galvanised feedlot covers

Covered feedlots improve animal comfort and performance, maximise profitability and increase feedlot sustainability.

Feedlot Sheds For Shade & Covered Housing Systems

Feedlot covers and shedded systems are an excellent option for shade in both beef and lamb feedlots.

  • Satisfy ALFA shade requirements and meet operational goals such as shortening the length of the finishing period to turn more cattle off in a year.
  • Capitalise on opportunities such as repurposing bedding for fertiliser to contribute to the sustainability of your feedlot.
  • Proven to reduce dirty hides and improve feed conversion and carcase quality – among many other benefits

Fully Hot-Dip Galvanised & Custom Feedlot Covers

  • Action beef and lamb feedlot covers are fully hot-dip galvanised to provide the ultimate corrosion protection and guarantee longevity.
  • Design options include formed up columns to keep columns out of the bedding and minimise risk of injury and custom storm water systems to keep bedding dry and allow storm water to be captured
  • Using the correct ratio of bunk space and stocking density is important. The feedlot calculators are useful tools for greenfield sites and when covering existing pens.
  • The Action project methodology includes a thorough project consultation and cover details like feedlot shed orientation, access and roof design for ventilation to effectively reduce heat load.
You can find more information on each of these points in the Feedlot Cover Guide

Feedlot Shade Airflow Studies & Design

Our building consultants use research including Computational Fluid Dynamics studies to provide feedlot-specific advice.

This includes:

  • Effective airflow for heat, moisture and ammonia reduction and how we can manipulate the roof design to achieve this.
  • Functional and cost-effective configurations that satisfy stocking density and bunk space requirements.
  • Best-fit orientation depending on feedlot location and climate.
