2024 - 2025 Farm Shed Prices

2024 – 2025 Farm Shed Prices Overview

Keeping up to date with current pricing trends and the factors that influence farm shed prices is a great way to help understand project costs and help you budget.

Here is a general overview of these trends and factors.

2024 – 2025 Steel Prices

In 2024 to date, farm shed prices have remained relatively consistent and stable, particularly in comparison to prices during the COVID pandemic.

This is largely thanks to more stability in the steel market which has resulted in less fluctuations and steel prices have plateaued.

Here is an article we wrote earlier in the year on this topic – Steel Prices in 2024 – Up or Down?

While there are no steel price rises currently forecasted, it is difficult to predict what will happen over the next twelve-month period.

This is because the steel industry is a volatile market, and prices are influenced by events like global political uncertainty and continuing conflicts such as the war in Ukraine.

We have developed strong relationships with our steel suppliers which allow us to keep up to date with current steel prices. We communicate any upcoming price rises in well advance and keep steel in stock to reduce the impact on farm shed projects.

Additionally, our quotes are valid for 30 days and if you sign up for your shed within this period, the amount on the quote is the amount that you will be invoiced.

So, if you are building a shed with Action Steel and the price of steel goes up during this time, you will not be charged more.

Instead, your signed quote locks in the steel prices for your project.

Unfortunately, this is not the case with every farm shed manufacturer – so it pays to check!

Factors That Influence Farm Shed Prices

For every farm shed project, there are typically four main factors that influence the price.

1. Size

For example, the size of your shed will dictate the price that you pay, simply because the bigger the shed, the more materials and labour that are required.

2. Design & Configuration

When it comes to configuration, some are more cost-effective than others.

For example, for a hay shed a longer, narrower shed is more cost-effective than a shorter and wider configuration.

Or if you require a wide opening for your machinery shed, then a drive-through configuration is more cost effective than an open-front configuration with extra wide bays.

While design features such as double bay openings can be cost-prohibitive, others such as a cantilevered canopy are budget friendly. A canopy can be a cost-effective way to gain extra coverage and weather protection without increasing the width of your shed.

3. Materials & Construction

Materials are essential for building a new farm shed, and as a result are one of the main contributors to price.

This includes the cost of structural steel, shed cladding and corrosion protection.

Farm shed construction can also vary between suppliers, which will also influence the price. For example, a painted purlin shed will always cost less than a fully hot dip galvanized structural steel shed.

4. Project Complexity

While the majority of farm shed builds are straightforward, every now and then there can be some complex details that increase the price.

One example of this is if there is limited access to the site. This can make it difficult to install the shed, which increases the installation time and therefore increases the installation cost.

If you have a number of options available for your shed location, it will pay to keep this in mind when selecting the site.

Now that we have an understanding of some of the main factors at play when it comes to farm shed prices, let’s have a look at the current prices for hay sheds, machinery sheds and more.
